BORN LIARS

Humans begin lying shortly after birth. Six-month-old babies get into the game through fake crying and laughing. Two months later, they’ve added concealment and distraction. At two years old, toddlers bluff, and by their fourth birthdays they’ve discovered the advantages of flattery. Before they’re ten, children will have learned to cover up a lie - well in advance of their teeanage years, when all that prevarication will truly come in handy.
