Edith Piaf - “Cri Du Coeur”

I love music that makes me feel like I’m somewhere else in some other time period. Edith Piaf does exactly that… When I listen to her I feel as if I should be sitting in some cafe in Paris eating croissants and sipping on a cappuccino in the 1940s. Maybe it’s cuz I’m a sucker for most things French.

Edith Piaf was discovered in 1935 and quickly became France’s number one entertainer. It wasn’t until after World War II that she became internationally known. After receiving a favorable review from a critic from the New York Times, Americans had no choice but to love her. She appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show eight times and performed at Carnegie Hall twice.

Unfortunately she died when she was only 47 from liver cancer. She certainly lived an interesting life filled with many ups and downs. Luckily, we have her music to remember her by.
